Enjoy the flexibility of anytime dining when you take a cruise on the Star Princess. For those who do like the assigned tables and set times for dinner, the Amalfi Restaurant does continue this tradition. The Capri and Portofino Dining Rooms, which do offer the same menu as the Amalfi, have no set times for taking your evening meal. Wander in anytime between 5:30 and 10 p.m. and you will be seated at a table. You can also make reservations in one of these venues for a specific time if you think you may have to wait to be seated.

Have a meal to remember at Sabatini’s – one of the alternative restaurants on the Star Princess. You do have to make reservations and pay an extra charge per person, but the eight-course meal you have is well worth the minimal cost. This is the Italian restaurant on the ship serving authentic Italian cuisine – pasta, seafood, breads and regional favourites. There is a full bar with specialty drinks and an extensive wine list. You can dine in this venue for lunch and dinner.

The other alternative restaurant on the ship is the Sterling Steakhouse. It is open for dinner fro6:30 to 11 p.m. and reservations are required. Here you can dine on choice cuts of meat and see the cuts being carved just for you in the prime rib carving station. There is a fee per person for dining in this venue and there is a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available at the bar.

At Horizon Court, the atmosphere is decidedly casual with food stations set up around the room. If you wish you can dine outside on the balcony to take advantage of the fresh ocean air and the view. Prego Pizzaria is conveniently located by the side of the pool from 11 in the morning until 5 in the evening and then again from 6:30 to midnight.

Have ice cream in a cup or cone or enjoy a sundae with your choice of toppings at Scoops. This service is not complimentary and a nominal fee is required.

Room service is available 24 hours a day and there is a menu in all staterooms. You do not have to pay anything extra to dine in your room at anytime of the day or night.

Select staterooms on the ship also have the added amenity of Ultimate Balcony Dining. This is fine dining at its best with a waiter, fine linens on the table and a choice of wine or champagne. You can choose from an ultimate breakfast or dinner and reservations are required and this service does carry an extra cost.

Formal dress attire is the norm for dining in the alternative restaurants and for the Ultimate Balcony Dining experience. You can wear casual attire in the Horizon Court at all times and in the main dining rooms, except for the formal nights on the ship.
